As usual, Brighthouse has much work to do if they really want to please their Internet customers. Changing and working on network equipment during prime hours (5PM to 10PM) is just wrong in so many ways. I’m not going to keep telling you what I am dealing with but instead I will just post the proof below.

This is a two day graph, between 10AM on April 16th til 10AM on April 17th. The network latency when it is working, is below 20ms for the majority. That is when the packets are not being lost in transit. The red blips on the bottom line are amounts of packet loss.

Here we have a six month graph. Including the data above at the very right, as we put more data into the same size image, you will have to look a little closer to see all the packet loss at the bottom. The time period of this graph is between November 2010 til April 2011.

Sort of funny, I searched their terms page, and nowhere can I find any statement of password protected sites…

I mean, I didn’t even realize they would not do a DNS redirection, but instead a web frame redirection displaying a fucking ad on the top unless you close it manually. No thanks, I was not going to use it after that anyway.

At the time of this post, their FAQ page: http://www.fly.to/faq.shtml does not state anything about linking to a password protected site.

Hm funny, okay, searching the Terms page. Nothing relating to directions to password protected sites. In fact, the only thing searching for password on this page is the following:

My connection is extremely fast for being in the United States. I hear other countries are up to hundreds of megabits already, I’m currently sitting at thirty, which I don’t mind… If it were stable enough to consider an internet connection.

I know Comcast is not much better, but after dealing with this shit from Brighthouse on a daily basis, I’m about to switch just to not pay Brighthouse.

Then we have…well it just looks wrong. Who the fuck puts a fart pipe on any car, let alone this thing. The tail lights are protruding as well. I guess he thinks at night it might leave streaks of light, because he is going so ‘slow’.

Recently at work one of the newer executives purchased a mac and wishes to use it on our corporate wireless. No problem bring it by and I will take a look.

After trying to setup the 802.1X authentication and continuously failing, I decided to do what I know and Google search for it. I found out it’s a known issue. The site told me to replace the driver, I did and sadly it did not work. So I had to restore that file.

Called the Mac support number since the owner had support, might as well use it. Yeah, it’s about to get funny.

I give them my name, exec’s name and the serial number, and then I start to describe the problem. As first level support he asks the OS version and passes me over to the wireless support. Talking to the wireless guy he directs me to open the Advanced tab, and remove all networks, then click on 802.1X tab at the top and remove all these. I do, and then he tells me to create a new one, name for the network, SSID, Authentication Type, Encryption, Username and then Password. After I click save he then asks if we use any proxy servers and if we can bypass them.

Wait…What?

It’s like if I went to oh say, a vehicle mechanic and said my car will not start. He then says, “Alright, put the key in, turn it to accessory, lights come on?” Yes. “Alright, turn it once more, do you hear clicks from the engine?” Yes. “Alright, don’t crank it, turn on the ass warmer, does it work?” ….What?

Yeah, okay. Your asking if I use any proxy servers, you know services that filter HTTP traffic and allow strict filtering from the inside of a network out to another, like the Internet. But, we have not even connected to the wireless network yet. It’s like having the Ethernet cable in your hand and asking if you have an Internet connection yet.

Suffice it to say, we still did not get 802.1X working on that Macbook Pro. I refuse to use plain WEP on any wireless network let alone an enterprise system. I guess I will tell the executive he can bitch out Mac for adding features that just don’t work… Well, at least on this Mac.

Therefor, I hope they lost data when the machine had to under go a reboot.

First thing, companies marketing ‘supercharged’ servers or computers. Look, until that fucker comes with pulleys, belts and a fucking Eaton or Whipple Supercharger bolted to the top of it, stop saying that. The server is not supercharged, it’s not faster then the same machine from a different company of the same class setup with the same software and tweaked the same.

Second, I am tired of seeing ‘Green’ server rooms with grass growing under the floor tiles or around the racks. This is a god damn server room, it’s not a sod farm. Wild animals do not roam the server room grazing. (Not counting lost IT personnel in the larger more fun server rooms.)
