Welcome to the new look of Archaic Binary. I have been working on this new layout for some time now, and decided to work a little more with it; and get it up and running. The main purpose of the change is to make the site a little more personal, and have other sections available to me, as I don't just write Joomla! stuff, and work all the time.
Archaic Binary started out in 2003, as an idea by some of my friends and I. The idea never really took off, but I registered the domain name anyway, and started working on the site. At first, it worked more like a business site, but then slowly moved into a personal site for my components and the like. It is the same now; I use Archaic Binary for personal reasons, and to post walkthroughs to help others, and to allow others to browse some of the computer programs, and code that I have written. Since then, I have backed off computer stuff for a little while, but working in IT, gives me plenty of time to try new things, and build stuff out of spare hardware.
I'm trying to keep the site simple in design, but make everything ease to access, I have numbered this revision 4.1 as I think nobody gives enough credit to a version 4.0 they always skip from 2.0 to 5.0 or from 3.0 to 5.0, poor version 4.0. A constant menu at the top, like the old site is a must, while I am trying new things with the blog look on the right hand side of the page. I have decided to put a little more work into the design and upkeep on this version, I have kept the color picker in the top right hand corner, and made all of the color themes match the site in anyway possible although I am still working slowly at getting all of the pages to match. I have created much more sections and categories to help keep this version organized. This should help others find their way around easier, and a little faster. Archaic Binary is quite large, you may have noticed that I have also kept the Google Adsense on the site. For the past two years, it has provided me with inspiration to work on the site, and helps cover the hosting costs. |
