BR-3 OBD2 Scan Tool Software

By |September 21st, 2012|Categories: General|Tags: , , , |9 Comments

I have not used my BR-3 scan tool in quite some time. Being that it’s only a reader, and I have my HPTuners scanner/programmer. I was asked to use it at work on a friends’ car and after getting setup realizing that I do not have the software and going to their website, that it is no longer available and the software is not there either.

I have posted the version I have. Version 4.2.

You can download it here. Also available is the DataSheet.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have been unable to use my BR-3 tool since I switched computers and found that the manufacturer’s website has been taken down.

I really like the tool and I’m glad to see that I can now get back to using it!

This was helpful, thanks! I still have a BR-3 that I pulled out today to diagnose an old truck and needed the software.

Many thanks, I down loaded this software in 2013 but the computer it was on crashed. That was the second computer that crashed, loosing the software. I will keep an extra copy this time. Thanks again.

Can someone tell me, can this software be used with any other USB to serial or bluetooth connector? Thanks.

I can tell you that it is a hard fact that no, this software will only work with the BR-3 unit. This is not to tell you that you are at fault, but that this software actually talks only to the BR-3 unit because it is the odd ball here. Most software lately will work with a variety of tools as they use a similar chipsets (Mostly ELM style chipsets). The BR-3 unit used very special, non-standard parts and because of that is no longer available and no longer sold.

Thanks for hosting this; I also dug up this diagnostic box and realized I don’t have the software handy anymore, so it’s nice to be able to use it again…

Do you happen to have the DOS program as well? What about firmware for the PIC chip? Was any source code ever published for software or firmware?

I don’t have any other software for the device. I don’t remember any firmware being published. The PDF I think has some methods to communite with it. I did write a simple VB6 program a long while back that used the BR3.
